Congratulations to Dr.Jiyang Chen passed his Doctoral Final Oral Examination!

Dr. Jiyang Chen passed his doctoral oral examination on Oct.27 2020 by impressing the five members of his Examining Committee.  His interdisciplinary research project was entitled “Preclinical Evaluation of a Biodegradable Knitted Heart Cap for the Delivery of Cardiosphere-derived Cells to Induce Reverse Remodeling of a Failing Left Ventricle”. He recently completed a rat study of his implantable heart cap through the co-operation of the murine microsurgical unit at Duke University’s Healthcare Research Center.  He was able to answer the probing questions asked by the 5 members of his Examining Committee with clarity and confidence.  His Examining Committee members were: Professor Ke Cheng (College of Veterinary Medicine), Dr. Bob Dennis (Biomedical Engineering, UNC – Chapel Hill Medical School), Dr Mani A. Daneshmand, MD (Emory University Medical School, Atlanta), Dr Andre West (Wilson College of Textiles) and Dr Martin King, PhD (Wilson College of Textiles). Well done Jiyang!

Meanwhile, he also has accepted a post-doc position with a faculty member at UNC Chapel Hill College of Art and Science. Congratulations to Dr. Chen!!
