On Monday, August 12, 2019, Dr. Bhavya Singhi successfully passed her PhD oral exam! Her dissertation topic focused on the ‘Wet Spinning of Poly (4-hydroxybutyrate) to Produce Drug-loaded Fibers for Controlled Drug Delivery Applications.’
The research work involved identifying suitable wet spinning conditions for Poly(4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), a novel biopolymer, studying the feasibility of preparing drug-loaded P4HB fibers and subsequently monitoring the drug release from the fibers.
Members of the Doctoral Examining Committee consisted of: Dr. Martin W. King, Dr. Stephen Michielsen, Dr. Ericka Ford from the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science and Dr. Lucian Lucia from the Forest Biomaterial Department. They complimented on the clarity of her presentation and her ability to respond with confidence to the wide variety of questions that were asked!
This is a huge achievement in her life, and the Wilson College of Textiles is very proud of her! We have no doubt that Dr. Singhi will continue to succeed in the future!
