Ciera is a master’s student studying Textile Chemistry, having graduated from NC State with a bachelor’s degree in Polymer and Color Chemistry in 2018. She has been researching azo dye photodegradation since 2015. Ciera combines molecular modeling work she performed under Dr. Melissa Pasquinelli with experimental data gathered while working under Dr. Vinueza. Ciera uses microfluidics and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry to analyze the photodegradation products of azo dyes. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with the Vinueza Labs team on a project which challenges and fascinates her.
