Designer: Erin Doran
Hometown: Winston-Salem, NC
Collection Title: Social Evolution

Bio

From a household where creativity was encouraged, traveling was expected, and public singing was mandatory, Erin was raised to believe she could be anything she wanted to be. With many aspirations throughout her life, from nun to veterinarian to self-proclaimed comedian, she somehow ended up right where she needed to be at the Wilson College of Textiles. Driven to adventuring, globetrotting, and discovering all the world has to offer, she will graduate with a major in Textile Design and a minor in Outdoor Leadership.

Collection Description: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Through Erin’s eyes, the details, slow processes, backstory, and the bold are truly beautiful. Her clothing collection is a reflection of her exploration into gender and beauty, all while striving for sustainability through the recycling of materials and eco-friendly production processes. In a collaborative piece with Alex Cohen, she utilized slow processes and the human form to highlight the appeal and reward of handcrafting.  In the end, she has come away with a new appreciation for self-proclaimed beauty, the art of handcrafting, and the friends and family who have supported her throughout this process.
