Threads: A Student Texploration is a showcase of fashion collections that have been designed and developed in the Senior Studio elective class as part of the Fashion Development and Product Management program in the Wilson College of Textiles. Each Fall semester, students from the Fashion Development and Product Management program at NC State University’s Wilson College of Textiles showcase designs that have been developed in Senior Collection Studio. These senior designers have created, developed, and produced an industry quality collection, emphasizing ideation, theme development, fit and fabrication. Threads is a showcase of talent, creativity, and skill; it is a culmination of techniques learned over the years through various courses in the FDPM concentration.
Masters student Bhavani, has gotten some of her final fabrics and we are IN. LOVE. She is using some digitally printed fabric which she sampled some of the colors from to make a coordinated jacquard knit fabric in our very own knit lab!
In love with this color! 🧡🍊🍑🥕🔸 Yihua is creating this beautiful shape at the sleeve cap by pinching and pinning the fabric on the dress form. She is then going to hand stitch it down so it the pleats stay in place ✨ I think we’ll be seeing lots more color soon! #ncstatewilson
We are AMAZED by all the construction details Yihua Zhu is incorporating to her design! From circular cutouts on the pants to a hand made denim chain, Yihua is all about the ✨details✨ Check out the link in our bio if you want to learn more about the student designers and buy tickets to the show!
Prototyping is in full swing! Graduate student Bhavani Jayaraman is working on the prototypes of each look in her collection. The next step is to host model fittings and create the final garments! Can’t wait to see what Bhavani does next 🪡🧵
