Recruiting Current Students

The Wilson College of Textiles Office of Career Services is eager to help you identify and recruit talented candidates for job and internship opportunities.

Post an Entry-level Job or Internship

The Wilson College of Textiles uses ePACK, NC State’s career management database for job and internship postings targeting current students and recent alumni. If you’d like to have your position posted in ePACK, please email a Word or PDF version of the position description to Jeff Sackaroff.

Alternatively, you can also create your own ePACK account, which will allow you to post positions and manage your account directly.

Tips for Creating a Strong Job or Internship Posting

The more information you can include about the position and your organization, the better. Candidates are interested in knowing about the role, responsibilities, desired skills, organizational culture, career progression, salary range, the number of previous Wilson College of Textiles hires/alumni working at your organization, etc.

We expect employers to act in good faith and adhere to the Principles for Ethical Professional Practice when recruiting students.  Should you have any questions at any time, please contact Jeff Sackaroff, director of career services for the Wilson College of Textiles.

On-campus Recruiting

You can reserve interview space in the Wilson College of Textiles, allowing you to interview multiple students in a location that is convenient and familiar to them.

Information Sessions

Employer information sessions are a great way to engage with students and provide pertinent information about your organization, answer questions, and increase your brand awareness on campus. Information sessions are typically held in the Wilson College of Textiles in the late afternoon (4-7 p.m.), and usually last about an hour.

Tips for an Effective Information Session

Rather than a standard slide presentation, we recommended that you try to make your information session interactive and engaging. Students really enjoy learning about company culture, sustainability, career paths, and growth potential when researching employers. If possible, consider bringing along Wilson College of Textiles alumni who are working at your company; it’s a great benefit for current students to hear directly from former students. Some employers will include refreshments at their sessions; while snacks aren’t expected, it never hurts. Pizza, cookies, or other treats are all available close to campus for pick-up or delivery.

Tabling/Coffee Chats

Employers are welcome to host an information table or coffee chat in the Wilson College of Textiles. We have plenty of highly-visible space where many students congregate/pass through. Additionally, there is a Port City Java shop connected to our building where employers can invite students to chat in a casual setting.

Employer Panels/Mock Interviews/Resume Reviews

We offer many opportunities for employers to volunteer their expertise and experience in helping us further develop our students. These events are a great way for employers to connect with students, increase their brand-awareness, and have a lot of fun while helping the next generation of Textiles-professionals.

If you are interested in any of the above activities, please contact Jeff Sackaroff, director of career services for the Wilson College of Textiles.

Recruiting Experienced Alumni from the Wilson College of Textiles

Due to the unique and niche nature of our industry, the Wilson College of Textiles maintains a listserv of experienced alumnus who are interested in learning about new opportunities. If you are looking for an experienced candidate, please send the position description to textiles-career-services@ncsu.edu.
