Elizabeth Cobarrubias

I am a master’s Student in Textile Engineering at NC State. I graduated from Oregon State University Honors College in 2012 with a B.S Biochemistry Biophysics and a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies. Originally from the west coast, born and raised in Oregon. I’ve worked in healthcare over the last 6 years, most recently in surgical dermatology. I am passionate about staying healthy and active through wearable technology. My goal is to work in athletic apparel or medical textiles.

Outside of research I am actively involved in community outreach programs through Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). I believe it is important to expose young females to science and engineering. I also enjoy golfing, hiking, and trying new food. Love traveling, have only made it to 13 countries and 4 continents but plan to eventually go to every continent and as many countries as possible.
