  • UPDATE: 3-30-2020 – New security rules for screen sharing and recording.
    With the new screen sharing change you must be logged in to the Zoom client as the Host to share your screen or adjust the setting.
    1. During a meeting: Participants -> Claim Host -> Log in -> Log in with SSO->
      Company domain: “ncsu” -> NC State Shibboleth login -> Open in Zoom
    2. Zoom client, outside of a meeting: Log in with SSO -> Company domain:”ncsu” -> NC State Shibboleth login -> Open in Zoom

Internet Connectivity Resources

  • FCC agreement stating that providers will waive late fees, not cutoff service for lack of payment, and open hot-spots.
  • Comcast COVID-19 response: offers free WiFi for 2 months to low income families plus all Xfinity hot-spots are free to the public during this time
  • Charter Free Internet offer for 2 months
  • AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot-spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10/month plans to low income families
  • Verizon COVID-19 response: no special offers, but following the FCC agreement.
  • Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge.
  • T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge.

Forwarding Your Phone

Please note that for each of the following suggestions, you must be on VPN to access the NC State websites. More information, including a full list of Tools and Services for campus phones, may be found here: OIT’s Important Information for Remote Workers.

  1. Simply ‘forward all’ calls at myphone.ncsu.edu (Log in with Unity ID and PW).
    You can also use a softphone and place calls from your campus phone; see option 3 below.

  2. Voicemail options: NC State employees who have been assigned a phone number on the campus phone system can also modify voicemail options at voicemail.ncsu.edu (Log in with Unity ID and PW).
  3. Softphone (Jabber) – This works on any Windows PC, Mac, Android, iPhone and iPad. More information and a ‘self service portal’ to sign up for these services can be found at https://oit.ncsu.edu/campus-it/phone-services/mobility-solutions/
